Story
Behind the Build
After a bunch of conversations regarding the issues with the longevity of modern cars and the availability of parts, I started doing resto-mods.
I had a 1953 Chevy pickup (Dutch) on an S-10 chassis that I had been working on. I had finished the interior and it was so nice to be in I decided to do an 8000 mile road trip around the country so I could take shots of it in front of cool backdrops all along the way.
When I returned someone left me a note that they had to have it and I sold it. I purchased a 1952 Chevy Deluxe with the intention of using it as a daily but it was too nice and not ready for that.
I had been driving a first gen scion XB around for a while I was getting an itch for another truck that I could daily and heard about this truck. It was buried in a room of other vehicles so I didn’t test drive it but it already had decent curb appeal and bags, it started right up and idled smoothly, so I thought it was a good start.
Shortly after getting it, I noticed it was leaking and that led to inspection and I discovered the cam was worn out and it had terrible front suspension geometry. The 283 wasn’t worth rebuilding and I didn’t want to do an “in the meantime” ~350 replacement. My friend and I had just started Dmax Swap, he volunteered to setup the chassis with me and we’d put an LS in it. I told him, if you’re donating the time, let’s make it worth it for you too and put a Duramax in it! And that’s how it began…
